Fast-forward to December 2024, and Circle K stepped up even further by taking over the management of charging stations—though it steered clear of those tied to TotalEnergies' dedicated Deutschlandnetz development.
Today, Circle K oversees a robust charging infrastructure spread across 95 locations throughout Germany, boasting a total of 400 charging points. Just this month, they've ramped things up significantly with the addition of six brand-new charging hubs, featuring 43 high-power charging (HPC) points in all. For beginners, HPC simply means super-fast charging stations that can deliver a lot of power quickly—think of it as the turbo boost for your electric vehicle's battery, getting you back on the road in a fraction of the time compared to standard chargers.
Four of these new hubs are strategically placed in the state of Bavaria. In Eckental, six HPC points each capable of up to 400 kW went live, perfect for electric cars zipping around town. Meanwhile, Hohenlinden saw eight similar points activate, offering the same high-speed juice. Over in Illertissen, Circle K added six more fast-charging spots, also topping out at 400 kW, with two of them specifically earmarked for battery-electric trucks—those big, powerful vehicles that haul goods without a drop of diesel. The biggest of Bavaria's four new sites is in Nordendorf, where eleven fast-charging points are now operational, including two designed just for these eco-friendly E-trucks.
But Circle K hasn't stopped at Bavaria. They've broadened their reach to other parts of Germany too. For instance, a fresh charging hub in Wittlich, nestled in Rhineland-Palatinate, now offers four fast-charging points, each delivering up to 400 kW. And in Laucha, Saxony-Anhalt, they've launched the sixth HPC location with eight new points, though these provide up to 175 kW—still impressively speedy, but a bit less than the max in other spots. Notably, one of these Laucha points is tailored for E-trucks, highlighting a growing focus on commercial vehicles.
This is the part most people miss: While Circle K has been pioneering charging for electric trucks in Scandinavia for years, Germany marks their debut in offering dedicated options for battery-electric commercial vehicles right here. The beauty? These stations allow trucks to charge without needing to uncouple—meaning no extra hassle for drivers, keeping operations smooth and efficient.
